Fatouma volunteers with VOW grantee Agir Plus in Niger.After fleeing home twice to escape child marriage herself, she knows how important it is to work with communities to help ensure no child ever becomes a bride. Fatouma often speaks with groups of mothers to convince them to let their daughters live lives they love.

16-year-old Mariama participates in a program that one of VOW's grantees runs in Niger that helps build girls® confidence and leadership skills. The grantee organization also helps Mariama with her school fees so she can stay in school and follow her dreams of becoming an accountant or the head of a bank, instead of becoming a child bride.

Raising Teenagers Uganda
Hope leads Raising TeenagersUganda, an organization created to support girls to stay in school until they complete their education. They provide leadership camps and skills training for girls to help increase their confidence, learn their rights, and stand up and speak out about issues affecting them.
Asociación de Mujeres de Quisqueya
Far too many girls in the Dominican Republic grow up learning that marriage is expected and their role is to serve their husbands.Asociación de Mujeres deQuisqueya wants to change this. The organization created"The Child MarriagePrevention Center" to challenge social and gender norms and reduce the rate of child marriage.
Gramoday Chetna Kendra
A women-led organization, Gramoday Chetna Kendra runs a boarding school for girls in India. In addition to a traditional curriculum, girls learn to debate, public speaking, and participate in theatre and sport. These activities help girls grow their confidence and leadership skills and help keep them from becoming brides.

APEJF's work focuses on girls who have experienced trauma as a result of the ongoing conflict. They provide scholarships and school supplies to girls at risk of child marriage. APEJF has also created a safe space for girls to better know their rights, their options, and their world.
