What best describes you?
In a small village in Uganda, a quiet ripple of change is growing. Her name is Esther. After joining a leadership workshop hosted by the Mentoring and Empowerment Programme for Young Women (MEMPROW), Esther didn’t just learn how to lead. She discovered a deep calling to share what she had learned, and to use her voice to uplift others.
Today, Esther has met with more than 150 girls and young women in her community, sharing practical tools, encouragement, and hope. When she saw how period poverty was affecting girls' ability to attend school, she organized menstrual health workshops and product demonstrations in five area schools. She understood that just knowing you're not alone—and that your education matters—can be life-changing.
But she didn’t stop there.
Esther helped launch savings groups for girls and young women, giving them a foundation to build income-generating skills like making soap, shampoo, and perfume. For Esther, financial independence isn’t just about earning money—it’s about creating choices, building confidence, and rewriting what’s possible for girls.
Her vision is big, and her impact is quickly growing. With every conversation, every skill shared, and every girl encouraged to dream bigger, Esther is helping shape a future where girls have knowledge, power, voice, and opportunity.
VOW for Girls is proud to support grantee partners like MEMPROW who are investing in girls like Esther who are changing their lives and the trajectory for all girls from the ground up.
