What best describes you?

Every new ambassador strengthens the VOW community and we're thrilled to welcome Flavia Nakor.
As the Founder and Executive Director of Adamara for Child Initiative (A4C), Flavia works alongside girls and families in Karamoja, Uganda, helping expand access to education, opportunity, and brighter futures. But her commitment to this work is deeply personal.
At just 15 years old, Flavia fled an arranged marriage and found refuge with her grandmother—an experience that shaped the course of her life and inspired her to found A4C, a grassroots organization whose name means "grandmother's love."
Today, she's helping ensure more girls have the chance to choose futures of their own.
Here's what she had to say about joining the VOW Ambassador community.
Q: Tell us about yourself.
A: I am Flavia Nakor, Founder and Executive Director of Adamara for Child Initiative (A4C). At 15 years old, I fled an arranged marriage and found refuge with my grandmother, an experience that became the foundation of A4C, a grassroots NGO based in Kaabong, Karamoja, one of Uganda's most marginalized regions. Our name means "grandmother's love," and our work is rooted in love, care, and dignity, in the belief that cows can wait, but a child's future cannot. A4C works with indigenous pastoralist communities, including the IK and Dodoth people, to protect children, keep girls in school, advance menstrual health and build youth leadership.
Beyond A4C, I serve as Senior Human Resource Officer at Raising the Village, with progressive experience across East Africa. I hold a Bachelor of Human Resource Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, and am currently pursuing an MBA in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. I also hold professional certifications as an HR Business Partner and in HR Analytics, have earned a McKinsey Leadership Certificate, and serve as a Cambridge Advocate for the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Q: Why did you become a VOW ambassador?
A: I became a VOW ambassador because ending child marriage is not an abstract cause for me—it's deeply personal. I first connected with VOW through my advocacy work in girls' education and child protection in Karamoja, and the mission resonated instantly with what I see on the ground every day. Every girl in Karamoja I work with deserves the future I nearly lost. VOW's global platform allows me to amplify what communities like mine are living through and to connect that truth to action.
Q: What are you looking forward to as a VOW Ambassador?
A: I'm most excited to connect with a global community that shares this mission and to engage directly with VOW's leadership and partners. I'm also looking forward to the quarterly calls, celebrating wins and collaborating with other advocates, and gaining resources that will help me advocate even more effectively for girls in Karamoja.
Every new ambassador brings new ideas, new voices, and new opportunities to expand VOW's impact.
If Flavia's story inspired you, help us grow this incredible community by inviting someone in your network who shares our vision of a world where every girl can choose her own future.
